Willie Randolph Finally Put to Sleep by Mets

Willie Randolph Fired at 3:00 a.m.

The New York Mets kicked Willie Randolph to the curb, finally. They’d been thinking about firing Randolph since last year’s season ending collapse by the Mets. That was when, leading the NL East by 7 games on September 12, Randolph’s team play uninspired ball by losing 12 of their 17. They limped out of first place and missed the playoffs.

New York fans have been calling for his head all season chanting “Fire Willie!” at games, but then again who don’t the New York fans want to fire. Willie is done and was due to coach the N.L. All-Star team. Sadly, he’ll be watching the game from home. Jerry Manuel will take over the team in the interim.
