Tiger Woods won the U.S. Open while playing with a torn ACL and now he’s out for the remainder of the season. Granted, he’s not an NFL running back cutting down the sidelines, but Woods is tough as nails. He is a steely athlete who jeopardized his golf season to win the Open. Now I understand why he played at such an epic level. He wasn’t going to give up his golf season, to finish second place to Rocco Mediate.
Now the PGA Tour, and every other body in golf must worry about how to get fans interested in watching a Tiger-less season. Whether it’s AT&T, NBC, or the British Open, all parties involved are thinking about how to effectively market Mickelson, Vijay, and Sergio.
