The Spanish basketball team has an interesting sense of humor. Maybe Spaniards do not cosider making “slant eyes” a offensive gesture, but the rest of the world does. These guys are clueless. The Spaniards had no clue they were being offensive, but the Chinese and the rest of the world are sure to blow a fuse over this “incident.” We’re not promoting drama but this is not using your common sense, Senores. I believe that the NBA advised Kobe Bryant and Lebron James to NOT make offensive gestures during the games.
From the U.K. Telegraph
“Spain’s Olympic basketball teams have risked upsetting their Chinese hosts by posing for a pre-Games advert making slit-eyed gestures. The advert for a courier company, which is an official sponsor of the Spanish Basketball Federation, occupied a full page in the sports daily Marca, the country’s best-selling newspaper.”
Think to 6 years ago…We’re sitting at home, watching the Lakers win their 3rd title of 3, this time against Jason Kidd and the New Jersey Nets. Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal are celebrating as victorious teammates and in a technology world where, youtube is still Chad Hurley’s pet project, cell phones work mostly for long distance calls, and Kobe and Shaq are three-time champions. Fastforward to 2008 in the new media era where, Shaq drops a verse at an NYC club where he disses Kobe, a fan films this show on his cell phone where TMZ picks up the video, and now some kid in middle America makes his own reponse video.

Shaquille O’Neal, famous for his rap hobby in Fu-Schnickens went on stage this weekend in a freestyle rap battle in New York City. This footage has been around the internet for a day, and Shaq’Fu’s rhymes are aimed at his former Laker teammate. He asks the crowd to chant “Kobe How Does My Ass Taste?”
This just in:
Shaquille O’Neal will lose his special deputy’s badge in Maricopa County because of language he used in a rap video that mocks former teammate Kobe Bryant.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said “I want his two badges back … Because if any one of my deputies did something like this, they’re fired. I don’t condone this type of racial conduct.”
