Alicia Sacramone – Has a Great Left Hook

From Luke

Olympic Gymnast, Alicia Sacramone, is hot and has a great left hook. MMA Girls uncovered a great clip of her on youtube punching some drunk college kid at Brown. Who knew people at Brown drank? I thought they all went Emo before Emo was Emo and now they were in the stage of creating a new fad for wimpy people with deeply held anger issues, but I digress.

The chick is smoking, a gymnast and could probably beat up the jerk at your office who makes fun of you, dare I say every man’s dream. Details Here. Funny her bio on NBC sports doesn’t mention anything about an amateur boxing career, Costas why haven’t you gotten to this story yet

Fantasy Sports Start-ups Starting to Use Social Networks

Deadspin got tipped off that Sean Salisbury is now working with Open Sports, a site dedicated to sports social networking fantasy sports.  One interesting option is a “betting enabled sports games” which is a fancy way to saying “gambling.”  Salisbury will give his daily take on a hard-hitting “college and and NFL football” show.  We’re waiting for how long it will take until he shows his junk to some “social networker” in Kansas.   Not that there’s anything wrong with that.  The site was founded by Sports Line’s founder (who sold the company to CBS), so we’ll watch this one to see if it takes off.

Sports by Brooks gave the heads up that Jeff Ma, the man who beat Vegas while at MIT, and of the movie “21” and the book “Bringing Down the House” is bringing together a fantasy sports network called “Citizen Sports.”  Sports Illustrated Online, is backing this venture and the company will use Facebook and other social networks to facilitate the fantasy playing.  This seems like a great idea, but may be marketing towards a younger skew than the hard-core fantasy players who already have annual leagues set-up on Yahoo, ESPN, and CBS.  Check out Brooks article for his take on this, he summed it up well.

Spanish Basketballers Have a Unique Sense of Humor

The Spanish basketball team has an interesting sense of humor. Maybe Spaniards do not cosider making “slant eyes” a offensive gesture, but the rest of the world does. These guys are clueless. The Spaniards had no clue they were being offensive, but the Chinese and the rest of the world are sure to blow a fuse over this “incident.” We’re not promoting drama but this is not using your common sense, Senores. I believe that the NBA advised Kobe Bryant and Lebron James to NOT make offensive gestures during the games.

From the U.K. Telegraph

“Spain’s Olympic basketball teams have risked upsetting their Chinese hosts by posing for a pre-Games advert making slit-eyed gestures. The advert for a courier company, which is an official sponsor of the Spanish Basketball Federation, occupied a full page in the sports daily Marca, the country’s best-selling newspaper.”

Wow, this is Awkward

Our Commander in Chief attended the opening ceremonies and fratenized with some America’s most talented and scantily clad athletes. This is really strange, but it’s great to see that 42 is is a fan of the U.S.’s best chance for a Women’s Beach Volley Ball gold.
